The summer of 2009 took Tim and Cyndy and Cyndy's sister, Cherie, through Farmers' Markets. Cherie made pies as Tim and Cyndy made breads. They were selling fifty pies and two-hundred loaves of bread each week during the peak of the markets. The customers' support and encouragement for our efforts during the season helped them make the decision to continue their cooking and baking traditions by upgrading their kitchen to a commercial licensed home kitchen.

Their pies are served at the Montezuma Sale Barn Cafe. The KIOWA House herbal items and baked products are implemented at the Grinnell College through its Local Food CO-OP, which helps keep Iowa family farms economically viable.

Tim and Cyndy had a goal to raise $20,000 for the down payment to buy the Malcom Truck Stop that the bank needed to sell it. They would like to announce, so far to date, they have raised $15,000. They are in talks with several other business ventures to place much needed supplies and service before the people living in the area and traveling on Interstate-80.

Through Life Messages, Tim and Cyndy will organize job skills training and mentorship for returning veterans, re-entrants, troubled youth, and the unemployed in Iowa. Visit the other pages of this website that describe our programs.

The new season of farmers' markets start May 20, 2010. Keep checking in with us as we update our list of products, which Cyndy is now uploading pictures of the items we sell and adding new ones. This year, consumers will have wider range of pies such as: All kinds of cream pies, nut pies, and cheese cakes. Furthermore, there will be home canned pickles, sauces, and condiments.

Below are some KIOWA artwork done by, Jesse LaForet, Tim's nephew. Tim's mother was of the Kiowa Native American Tribe.
